CAA President’s Message: May 2024

Dear CAA Members,

As we reflect on recent events and anticipate upcoming opportunities, I’m excited to update you on several fronts. First, our Day on Capitol Hill on March 12th was a great success. With over 30 members participating, we engaged directly with Senators and Assembly members, discussing pivotal issues that affect our industry. The productive dialogue from this event reinforced the importance of our voice in legislative matters.

Furthermore, this year’s ISC show was an outstanding gathering, with over 30,000 attendees. It was encouraging to see such active involvement from the security industry, making it an informative and vibrant event. For those of you who could not join this year, I highly recommend planning to attend next year.

I am also delighted to announce that Kirk MacDowell is this year’s recipient of the CAA George A. Weinstock Award. Kirk’s extensive industry involvement and his recent awards, including the William N. Moody Award and the Sara E. Jackson Award, highlight his significant contributions to our industry and the California Alarm Association. His upcoming induction into the Security Industry Hall of Fame is a testament to his impact and dedication. We are thrilled to announce Kirk as this year’s George A. Weinstock Award winner and look forward to honoring and celebrating him at our upcoming San Francisco Conference in December. Thank you, Kirk, for all that you have done to advance our industry over the last 40+ years.

Looking ahead, there is still time to register for our Spring Conference in Palm Springs, scheduled for May 15th-18th. This year’s conference will focus heavily on Video Monitoring, featuring insights from leading industry manufacturers and dealers. Additionally, it will be a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a round of golf, reconnect with colleagues, and forge new friendships.

Thank you for your continued commitment and participation in our association’s activities. Your involvement is crucial as we continue to advance our industry together.

Regards,

Sean Cooke

President
